State employees' payroll files, 1955-1958.

The Division of Control and Accounts, headed by the State Comptroller, is obliged to issue salary warrants drawn on the State Treasury (Ala. Code, 41-4-50 to 41-4-51 [1975]). This series contains records sent by various state agencies to provide the Comptroller with important information on new employees for payroll purposes. Information listed includes payroll number, social security number, date of employment, position title, salary, and name and address of the employee. Also included is correspondence received concerning corrections to personnel information such as social security numbers, adjustments of payroll for employees, and changes in tax withholdings.
